{"id":2886,"date":"2019-12-22T12:58:39","date_gmt":"2019-12-22T01:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/?p=2886"},"modified":"2020-01-30T10:48:42","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T23:48:42","slug":"christmas-2019-burley-line-newsletter-issue-151","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/christmas-2019-burley-line-newsletter-issue-151\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas 2019 Burley Line (Newsletter Issue 151)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"444\" height=\"592\" src=\"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/latest.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2884\" srcset=\"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/latest.jpg 444w, http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/latest-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This turned out to be a surprisingly large edition.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This month we have both a story from the President\n(thanks mate) but also one about him \u2013 Lost and Found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to Lyall for his comprehensive report on the\nWorld Championship \u2013 reads like a thriller except with pictures.&nbsp; Thanks also for Stefan\u2019s very thoughtful\npiece on the recent Brogo trip \u2013 more and more this proves to be very\nworthwhile event, but watercraft seem to be the go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be the last edition that Jason Q is involved with.&nbsp; Can I publicly acknowledge all the assistance he has given me, not least is picking up entire editions when I thoughtlessly make myself absent.&nbsp; He has been a great asset to <em>Burley Line<\/em> and will be sorely missed.&nbsp; If anyone would like to step into that void, discuss with him what it involves and drop an email to the burley-line address<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meantime, don\u2019t be surprised if I ply you with a beverage\nin advance of asking you to volunteer to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to those who stepped up to help out at\nthe sausage sizzle at the Compleat Anglers First Birthday celebrations.&nbsp; Unfortunately I was interstate and fully\ncommitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the story of \u2018Stumpy\u2019, our cover photo this month.&nbsp; I was lucky enough to be invited for a few sessions fishing with local angling legend Steve Samuels.&nbsp; His skills extend past fly fishing to soft plastics.&nbsp; There we were on Mallacoota\u2019s bottom lake, Steve calls the fish a good size looking at its head shaking, but when netted, it was revealed to be undersized!&nbsp; Clearly some pelagic likes flathead tails as much as me.
