{"id":3103,"date":"2020-06-26T13:01:05","date_gmt":"2020-06-26T03:01:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/?p=3103"},"modified":"2020-08-23T20:59:54","modified_gmt":"2020-08-23T10:59:54","slug":"july-2020-burley-line-newsletter-issue-157","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/july-2020-burley-line-newsletter-issue-157\/","title":{"rendered":"July 2020 Burley Line (Newsletter Issue 157)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"453\" height=\"306\" src=\"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/latest-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/latest-1.jpg 453w, https:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/latest-1-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 453px) 100vw, 453px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to Rod for his notes.&nbsp; I\u2019m conscious that some people actually work for a living and I appreciate folks such as him spending the time to contribute to Burley Line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>End of season for trout stream fishing and some members report here on their experiences \u2013 some interesting reading from Evan, Claude&amp;BJ and Peter.&nbsp; What a beauty from Jaime \u2013 and then he backed up with a good string of Cod (the man is a veritable angling machine).&nbsp; Things are relaxing a bit with initial recommencement of CAA angling events with the June Chill at Black Mountain Peninsula \u2013 as you\u2019ll see, the President led from the front \u2013 but unfortunately our Saltwater event has had to be cancelled, and our meetings will continue to be virtual for the time being.&nbsp; The unique value of Zoom was demonstrated by the June meeting where, all that way from NZ, Declan Wong spoke on \u2018What you should do prior to, and what to expect when, fly fishing in NZ \u2013 A guides perspective\u2019.&nbsp; An enjoyable question\/answer session \u2013 Claude has provided a summary here.&nbsp; Finally, another early member of CAA has passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are getting close to our July meeting \u2026 remember, that\u2019s when Lyall closes the \u2018little green book\u2019 and the registration of fish for possible trophy consideration closes.&nbsp; If you have fish to register, you best contact Lyall&nbsp; and book in a physical meeting or other arrangement in case our club meeting has to continue with Zoom.&nbsp; My quick glance earlier this month revealed very few entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some good news on the Facebook front \u2013 Shaun has volunteered to be the lead Editor.\u00a0 If you are registered on Facebook, you should consider \u201cliking and following\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Canberra-Anglers-Association\/314598008685155\">CAA Facebook page<\/a>.\u00a0 Shaun has lots of contacts and so, while much will align with stuff you\u2019ll see in the Newsletter or CAA Website News Blog, you may well see it on FB first.\u00a0 I\u2019m adding a column here in <em>Burley Line<\/em> as a \u2018catch up\u2019 for those of you who don\u2019t want to sign up for Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/0157.pdf\">0157<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/canberra-anglers.asn.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/0157.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many thanks to Rod for his notes.&nbsp; I\u2019m conscious that some people actually work for a living and I appreciate folks such as him spending the time to contribute to Burley Line.
