The CAA ‘Blog’ is a series of notes (‘posts’) providing a sequence of interesting items for the reader. The main blog page accesses the complete collection (newest at the top) but, as you’ll see this isn’t the only way to access the blog.  The main blog page has a menu bar (same as this one) to take you back to the web home page, to access our monthly newsletter Burley Line  and finally to access our ‘knowledgebase‘.  The knowledgebase link is also available on our web homepage and this provides a bird’s eye view categorising the material we’ve saved in the blog.

Our posts have become our knowledgebase and each is assigned to one or more of the following categories:

• Tips This has posts covering one member’s “Journey of Discovery”, his experience in taking up fly fishing. In addition, other tips, especially from members to other members, particularly useful for anglers of all experience levels – lots of weblinks.
• reports from our members on special places they have visited for fishing
• instructions for our monthly fly tying workshops plus other fly related discussions. We have an index listing giving titles only. On that page you can obtain abbreviated lists of dry flies, nymphs etc
• Gear A series of posts related to gear including lure building, rod/reel repairing and reviews provided by members on selected equipment they’ve been using
• a collection of recipes
• Book Review Periodically we get book reviews from books held by various members of the club.

An advantage of the blog approach is the ability to search within the blog posts – including those in the archive. If you are like me, it is a lot easier to search than to rely on your failing memory to identify where that snippet of information was hidden. Click here to get to the search page – ignore the first reference to not being able to find the information.

Members are encouraged to contribute to this collection via emailing posts to the Secretary or newsletter editors. Once vetted they will get uploaded onto the blog and likely also appear in our Newsletter.

In addition, readers can interact with the contributors by providing comments (‘Replies’) on specific posts. Note that the ‘leave a reply’ process asks for your name. This will be displayed on the blog when the reply is uploaded. If you prefer that your surname not appear on our blog, then feel free just to use first name (and surname initial if required). The first time you submit a reply, it will go to the blog administrator for vetting before it appears on the blog – once this first reply is approved, any future replies will go up immediately. Any inappropriate replies will be deleted by the blog administrator.

The blog approach has an additional benefit as readers can register to ‘follow’ the blog and receive an email when new items have been added. Just submit your email address using the form at the top right of this page. The process will send you an email asking you to confirm your registration – just watch out, some people have found this email arrived in their ‘spam’ or ‘junk’ folder.
