For one version, image and general technique see Troutlore YouTube

Jason works from the Coulson book which calls for size 8-10 hook, olive kangaroo belly fur, black squirrel, mink, or beaver for the tail, and black thread. Body can be summer coat kangaroo belly dyed olive, or olive dubbing, or olive wool. Coulson pretty much has a whole chapter on variations in his aussie fly book.

Jason’s variation uses a bit of olive hare to substitute for the kangaroo, and club supplies have plenty. Club also has black squirrel tail, mink, and anything else we want to try for a tail.

Woolly bugger hooks work well (about the right shank length), or about what you would use to put a small tweed bait on for whiting… We have plenty of hooks in the club box.
